Like I can see SmartThings detecting all of my Sonos players in the IDE log when I attempt to add a device, but nothing shows up in the app. I’ve been trying to fix this for three days now and at a loss. It can’t read the current status (i.e., whether anything is playing), it cannot control my Sonos, and text to speech is not working. I can add the devices and they show as “online”, but nothing seems to work. I tried the “LAN Sonos Player Websocket,” “Lan Sonos Player,” and “Sonos player” device handlers and none work (although I believe we are supposed to be using the websocket handler as the other will be deprecated). My devices, when they worked, used the mac address as the DNI. I tried the IP address for one of my players as well as the MAC address for the device network ID (DNI). Please feel free to take a look at my code and use it if you want to spend time with the larger datasets.I tried this and still couldn’t get it to work. There are more out there this is just looking for the UK stuff in the smaller datasets. So anyway check your IP against this list, Ask people who have Sonos players too. It would not take someone like me long at all to write a computer program to hijack these devices on mass around the world and change settings using the SoCo Python Library, play whatever music or sounds I want which would be inconvenient at best and creepy and scary at worst depending on the situation. So Sonos, Might I add this is NOT a bug with Sonos this is incorrectly or misconfigured devices. So alas.I picked the UK but there are a lot more, Again I do not have the compute power to go through all the datasets, The largest sets are a few gig and that takes a lot of memory to churn through. Some of it is low hanging fruit like the Roku devices or the cameras etc and in this series I am picking on Sonos because I happen to love the Sonos brand. In a series of posts I am looking at what is out there on the internet using the Rapid 7 Open Source datasets. It's not that difficult to be honest as most are "insecure by default" which is the big issues.
You really need to invest some time reading about how to secure these kinds of devices, I suspect a lot of you already do. Reminder, To secure your CCTV cameras and any IoT Devices from the internet otherwise anyone can view them.
